Dr. Henry Pleasant, Jr. – Medical Director
Dr. Pleasant is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist, who also practices General Medicine. He earned his MD degree from East Carolina University, and completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center.
Dr. Pleasant has a long history in the triangle area performing cosmetic services to a multitude of patients. He has a true talent for the aesthetics, however, his true passion is to rid patients of ACNE! For several years he has been gathering the best knowledge, skills and technology to help patients who have been affiliated with this aliment.
Dr. Pleasant created Wake Health Medical Group in 2010 to facilitate the needs of Raleigh residents in basic dermatologic care and cosmetic services. Along with his highly trained mid-level providers, he is ready to service you.
Lisa D. Giordano – CFNP
Lisa D. Giordano, RN, CFNP returns to Wake Health Medical Group with 20 years of experience in women’s health, aesthetics, dermatology, weight management, and family practice. Lisa graduated from Bloomsburg University with her BSN and a minor in psychology; she also graduated from Widener University with her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is originally from Bethlehem, PA and moved to NC 12 years ago.
Lisa has three older teens and resides in North Raleigh. She is a fitness enthusiast and has completed several sprint triathlons. She enjoys reading and traveling with her husband Louis. The two of them attend Hope Community Church in Morrisville where they plan to do medical mission trips overseas. She is excited to be practicing at Wake Health again! Her passion is Women’s Health and diet teaching. She wants to help all patients achieve their best life possible.
Angela Coton – PA-C
Angela Coton (pronounced Coat-on) and she’s excited to continue her career with Wake Health Medical Group. She first fell in love with dermatology as a pre-teenager. She would mix her mother’s beauty products and foods like honey and oatmeal to create facial masks for herself and her friends. Later in life, she was fortunate to manage a medical spa in the Raleigh area and realized that she could turn her love of beauty products and skin into a career. So, she pursued her Physician Assistant degree and graduated from East Carolina University in 2009. She has spent the past six+ years in the field of Otolaryngology and Facial Plastics on the North Shore of Boston where she routinely handled skincare questions, skin biopsies, and assisted her supervising plastic surgeon in both cosmetic procedures and head and neck cancer surgery. Now, it is time to take her love of skin and beauty to the next level with Wake Health Medical Group. Their embrace of technology, great skin care products and knowledgeable staff was the perfect fit for her love of both dermatology and the aesthetic arts. She takes pride in taking the time to listen to her patient’s concerns, educating them on their options, and caring deeply about their satisfaction and comfort. In her free time, she likes to volunteer with animal organizations, take long hikes with her two dogs, travel with her husband Scott, and head to the beach wearing lots of sunscreen! She looks forward to exceeding your expectations at your next visit.
Nayla Byrd – Office Manager
Nayla is a North Carolina native who is new here at Wake Health, she started in September 2012. She began her career in medical administration in 2002 at a pediatric office, where she then found her passion for customer service and making sure that the patients were greeted with a smile and had all of their needs met before leaving the office. After becoming a mother of twins in 2008, she decided to stay home and meet the demands of her husband of 10 years and kids until they reached school age. Always being interested in skin and beauty care, she was given the opportunity to join the Wake Health Medical Group team, where she is able to utilize her skills and abilities in medical administration while offering excellent customer service. She looks forward to meeting you!
Jennifer Futrell – RN
Jennifer is a graduate from ECU school of nursing. She has been an aesthetics nurse for over 4 years and has earned the prestigious title of Master Injector from Allergan, the number one distributor of nuromodulators in the country. Jennifer’s passion is in helping her patients feel good about themselves. She lives in Zebulon with her fiancé Zack and their 6 dogs. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys traveling, being outside and playing with her dogs.
Jennifer Torres – Aesthetician Clinical Coordinator
Jennifer was born and raised in Long Island, New York. Jennifer received her esthetic license in 2004 and has worked as a medical aesthetician for over 10 years in Raleigh. Her experience and passion for great customer relations has been her motivation for pursuing a career in Management. She is the mother of a wonderful son and loves spending every moment she can with him. She is excited to be a part of Wake Health and looks forward to meeting you!
Stormy M. – Medical Assistant
As a new member of the Wake Health Aesthetics team and a recent transplant to the Raleigh area, Stormy brings with her more than a decade of experience in advanced laser technology, chemical peels, dermaplanning, massage therapy and nutritional wellness. Prior to joining Wake Health, Stormy owned and operated a successful private day spa and art gallery in Roanoke, Va. that provided upscale skin, body and wellness services. Stormy works diligently to provide the highest standard of care to her clients and prides herself in bringing joy and exceptionalism to everything she does. Happily married with two beautiful daughters, Stormy enjoys exercise, art, crafts, and spending time with her family and dogs.
Vickie Gay – Medical Assistant
Vickie has been in the medical aesthetics field sing 2009. She earned her certification as a Certified Laser Technician at the National Laser Institute in 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She loves making a difference in people’s lives. Vickie feels she can work with people to find a way that fits in with their busy lives. She enjoys advancing her knowledge with continuing education to stay current with new ways to help patients achieve their goals. When she’s not at Wake Health, she loves spending time with her husband and her 2-year old son Bodie.
Cindy Kier – Medical Assistant
Cindy comes to the Wake Health Medical Group team with ten year experience in medical aesthetics and laser technology. She studied biology at NC Central University in Durham NC and studied Aesthetics at Miller Motte College in Cary NC. She has true passion for promoting great skin health and excellence in customer service. In her spare time, Cindy enjoys community service projects with her ladies support group to make a positive impact within the triangle.
Olivia Korm – Medical Assistant
She graduated from Aveda Institute Chapel Hill in 2011 in esthetics. After a few years in the skin care industry she decided to further her education. She graduated with her Associates in Paramedicine in 2016. She has now decided to combine her two passions and join Wake Health Medical Group as a Medical Aesthetician. Olivia is born and raised in a small country in Europe called Estonia and she tries to visit home whenever possible. On her free time Olivia enjoys cooking and exploring different restaurants where ever she travels.
Norma – Medical Assistant
Graduated from ECPI university of Raleigh, North Carolina with an associates degree in Medical Assistant. I’m also certified in phlebotomy and EKG tech. I have worked as a MA in urgent care and pediatrics for over 3 years. I have always had a passion for working in the medical field and having the opportunity to interact with new and interesting people every day. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing that I’m actually helping people. I’m very happy to be part of WHMG. On my free time I enjoy cooking, exercising, running and spending time with my friends and family.
Alexis S. – Medical Assistant
Alexis is new here at Wake Health Medical Group, she started September of 2012. Alexis is currently attending Wake Technical Community College working towards her Associates in science. Once graduated from Wake Technical College, she will attend East Carolina University to obtain her Business Degree. Always being interested in skin care and cosmetics, she found Wake Health Medical Group. Alexis is experienced in customer service and enjoys interacting with patients, making them feel welcomed as soon walk in the door. She looks forward to meeting you!
Cheryl Best – Medical Assistant
Cheryl’s passion is to help others have the best knowledge about their skin; from sunscreens to skin cancers. She has worked in the Dermatology field as a medical assistant for over 20 years and graduated with honors from Miller Motte College esthetics program in 2009. Since then, she has been working both as a medical assistant and a medical aesthetician to enhance each patients needs. Cheryl likes to be sure the patient has the best experience from greeting to leaving. Cheryl was originally born in Canada, but was raised in the North Eastern states and Mid West regions before moving to North Carolina in the late 80’s. She has two older children and enjoys spending time with them when she can.
Lisa Day – Insurance and Financial Supervisor
Lisa recently joins Wake Health Medical Group bringing 25+ years of experience in the medical field encompassing both the clinical and financial side of the profession. She is a Raleigh North Carolina native and enjoys her children, grandchildren, husband, dog Bella, gardening, the beach and reading. She is pleased to be a new team member at Wake and looks forward to assisting patients with any insurance or financial questions or concerns.
Kelly Wainaina – Patient Liaison
Kelly is a native of North Carolina, and she has 10 years of experience in the spa and beauty business. She enjoys providing excellent customer service while helping people look & feel better about themselves. She came to Wake Health Medical Group to expand her knowledge of the medical side of the industry.
Daniel Fernandez – Administrative Assistant/Medical
Daniel has always had a passion for helping people. He knew from an early age that he enjoyed making life easier for people. From joining the Marine Corps in 2012 to joining the Wake Health team in 2015, he is passionate about helping people feel better about themselves and bringing life to the office. He is a dedicated, hard worker. If a task or job needs to be completed, Daniel is usually the guy for the job. Daniel’s future plans includes attending ECPI to pursue a nursing/medical assisting degree.
Valerie L. – Administrative Assistant
Valerie is native to NC and love both the mountains and the beach. She completed her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Valerie loves baking, hiking/running, volunteering, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys interacting and helping patients!
Michelle Walker – Administrative Assistant
Michelle is a student at North Carolina State University studying Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. She is expected to graduate in May of 2017. With her degree, she plans to help manage employees, policies and systems more effectively. She joined the Wake Health team July of 2015 and enjoys transferring her knowledge to the workplace. Aside from school and work, she enjoys spending free time with her daughter.
Anica Vaughn – Administrative Assistant
Anica is a native of North Carolina with more than 10 years of medical/ customer service experience. She attended North Carolina Wesleyan College where she obtained her B.A in Business Administration. She has a passion for making people smile and ensuring that all of their needs are met. Her passion is giving back to her community, through the many charity organizations that she is associated with. When Aninca is not working, you can catch her on her motorcycle, or spending quality time with her 10 year old son.
